I missed this a few weeks ago but it seems FreeAgent has done a Google Apps integration in the sense that you can use Google Apps as a way of single sign-on to FreeAgent. Trivial? Maybe. How many of you sign into a variety of online accounts? I’m betting just about everyone. One of the things I consistently hear as a grump among users of saas systems is the problem of having to remember multiple login credentials. I’m also betting that like many others, you’ll likely have your favourite combination of username and password that are applied to multiple accounts. …

Is Google Apps Marketplace ready for prime time or is this another example of Google’s perennial beta program? Google Apps Marketplace opened yesterday to great fanfare. At one point I was receiving around 10 emails an hour informing me of new services being added into the platform. Naturally, the first place I looked was in the finance...
Google’s 3% revenue coming from enterprise applications is massively important. The graphic running down the side of this post ( courtesy of Pingdom ) tells the main story. A few years ago, Google’s revenue from this ‘licenses’ line item was piffling. 3% doesn’t sound a lot but it represents $760 million. Going back...
Over the weekend I spent a good amount of time updating the SaaS Apps Wiki . This is not a trivial task, requiring oodles of coffee ! Anyhoo – here’s the progress report: All 16 billing applications in the database now have an ‘At a glance’ section (see illustration at the top of the page) I’ve added two headings...
As SaaS/cloud providers mature and harden their applications, we are starting to see a range of new services emerge. For example, within hours of yesterday’s UK Budget, Emily Coltman had provided an easy to follow summary of the main provisions affecting FreeAgent users. While no substitute for professional advice, FreeAgent users can readily...
While I like to think I’m reasonably on top of tech trends I didn’t know about Google Buzz until last evening. (shock horror – I know.) Anyhoo, a quick trawl on the internet showed me that Buzz is : Our belief is that organizing the social information on the web — finding relevance in the noise — has become a large-scale...
FreeAgent has had a good run of being pretty much the only credible SaaS player for IT freelancers and contractors looking for an easy to use accounting solution. I’m not saying that cuz I was involved in the early days but because it gets rave reviews from its customers. FreeAgent’s allure lay in the fact it works out pay and CT figures....
Earlier in the week I referenced a case study that showed the benefits of cloud integration using a cloud based platform as the basis for joining different systems together. This is often cited as the ‘best’ way to expand a functional footprint but it is not the only way. In the above video, we see how Siemens needed a professional...
While I was attending the Cloud Computing World Forum I unexpectedly bumped into Ed Molyneux, CEO of FreeAgent . I can’t remember the last time we met so it was a pleasant and welcome surprise. As has become usual when I meet CEO’s of the new breed of SaaS accounting solution vendors, we swap notes, exchange ideas, talk progress. It...
Requests For Proposal (RFP) are a common feature of the IT landscape. At least for anything beyond the Pavlov Dog approach to Sage by some practices. The rise of SaaS applications has largely removed the need for RFPs, in part because most applications are aimed at the SMB market. Users are tempted by freemium or try-before-you-buy offers. Both...
This was left as a comment on an article here about United First Financial (UFF) and their Money Merge Account (MMA). Tracy, I wish I had read this earlier, like 2 months earlier. I did a Google search for paying down mortgages, and came across UFF’s Money Merge Account. I looked through the website, testimonials, etc. I was sold before the...
