You’ll need to read through to the end to get it. I’ve spent the last hour or so watching a couple of videos from OSCON. The one at the top of this post runs...

Sales Tax Collections Drop $4.7 Billion in California
Well, that’s the amount that California sales tax collections dropped in the 2008-2009 fiscal year according to the Board of Equalization. Songs have been coming into my thinking a lot these days. The title comes from a word in Yesterday . During the week I attended a shootout between two SaaS solutions. Each had to walk through a sales lead to cash business process in three steps. Each took it in turns to show a step. Part way through, one of the presenters had to resort to slideware...

iXBRL – the final nail in the spreadsheet reporting train wreck?
iXBRL is only a matter of weeks away and panic has set in. On AccountingWeb, Excel expert Simon Hurst makes a valiant effort at seeing if he can make Excel produce a valid set of iXBRL tags. In telling words he says: If you use tax and accounts production software then it’s easy. You’re in the hands of your supplier. For a bit of reassurance,...

inDinero – one to watch
I stumbled across this report at TechCrunch about inDinero in a C round where it hopes to raise $1 million. That’s pretty good for a new vendor in the apps space but reflects the interest in SaaS/cloud apps that are aimed at the very small business (VSB.) Founder Jessica Mah traces here entrepreneurship back 7 years to age 13. No –...
